Robert Logan “RL” Walker, age 77, was called home to be with His Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 26, 2026. RL was born on Saturday, January 1, 1949, in Fisty, Knott County, Kentucky, to the late Grace Combs Walker Fields and Sherman Walker.
RL is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Anna Ruth Walker; his daughter, Robin Lynn Howe (Rich) and her daughters, Emmazel Grace and Madeline Faith; his son, Michael Ray Walker (Sarah) and his daughters, Amelia Faye, Lily Belle and Savannah Rose; and his brother, Rodney Lee Walker (Donna); as well as a host of extended family he loved deeply. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ricky Walker.
RL was a proud Veteran of the United States Army who served in Vietnam and a retiree of General Electric where he worked as a Maintenance Electrician. He was well known as a die-hard UK fan and enjoyed a good friendly spat with his close UL and UT friends. He spent many years enjoying hunting, fishing, camping, coaching little league baseball and basketball, and refereeing youth basketball. After retiring from General Electric RL worked faithfully as the Maintenance Manager for Little Flock Baptist Church and Little Flock Christian Academy, where he was a proud member of the “Grumpy Old Men”.
RL was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved and led his family well. He loved to brag on his family and would tell everyone how proud he was of them any chance he had. RL was a faithful member and servant at Little Flock Baptist Church for over 25 years where he worked as part of the media tech team, served in the Student Ministry and participated in a number of mission trips. He was faithful in telling others about his faith in Jesus Christ, the faith that brought him salvation and a place in eternity with His Heavenly Father. He loved reading and listening to the Bible and was a prayer warrior to the end of his earthly life. He is rejoicing in the presence of Jesus because, as his dear friend Rodney Sexton wrote about him, “the death that we experience here on earth is something we all have to go through and while we grieve because of the separation of our loved ones, we rejoice for the ones we lose if they know Jesus in a personal way and have been washed by His blood, knowing they are in His presence, a place that we all want to be someday.”
We will miss RL’s love, service, humor, jokes, stories, smile and hugs, but we rejoice knowing when entered the presence of the Lord he heard “well done, my good and faithful servant”.
Visitation will be held at Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home in Shepherdsville, KY on Sunday, August 2, 2026 from 2 pm till 8 pm and again on Monday, August 3, 2026 at Little Flock Baptist Church from 10am till time of service at 12 noon with burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery. The family has asked for those who attends his services to wear UK clothing as a fun way to remember him.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations to be made in honor of RL to Little Flock Baptist Church or Hospice of Louisville.
