Roy D Moore Sr.

Roy D. Moore Sr., 81, of Mt. Washington, Kentucky passed away on July 19,2023 at Baptist Health Louisville with his family by his side. Mr. Moore was born on August 13, 1941, in Tompkinsville, Kentucky to the late Ernest Green Moore and Ina Mae (Pennington) Moore.

Mr. Moore was a retired machinist from C. Lee Cook Dover Corporation. He was 1977 Mr. Paul Bunyan of Louisville, beating out several others much younger than himself. He was a hardworking, family man. Mr. Moore enjoyed farm living, riding motorcycles, driving his beloved dump truck and Bob Cat in his younger days. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Ina; wife, Brenda Sue Moore; and sister, Ruby Gittings.

He leaves to cherish his memory, daughter, Rebecca Moore (Karen); son, Roy Moore Jr. (Stephen Mattingly); brother, Rayvon Moore; sister, Elsie Robertson (Sam); sister-in-law, Linda Palmer; nephews, Cary Shaw (Laurel Atcher), Tony Scott, Eric Scott, Roger Gittings and Ryan Gittings; niece, Deronda Scott (Danny); and special friend, his loving yorkie, Baxter. 

The celebration of his life will be at the Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home, 123 Winning Colors Dr., Mt. Washington, KY 40047 at 2pm on Sunday, July 23,2023 with cremation to follow.  Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday from 12pm until the service time at 2pm. The family will have a gathering following the service.
