Mrs. Ruby (Newsome) Burns, age 83, of Highview returned to her Heavenly Father on January 31, 2018. Mrs. Burns was a homemaker and a charter member of Meadow Hill Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School there for 55 years. Among those that preceded her in death include her parents, William and Martha (Tackett) Newsome; son, Jerry Burns; twin sister, Ruth Crowe; sisters, Hazel Hughes and Lettie Gibson; and brother, Sam Newsome. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 62 years, Donald Burns; children, Steve Burns and Tony Burns (Dalvonne); and grandchildren, Sean, Elizabeth, Kaylee and Trevor.
Funeral service will be conducted at noon on Thursday, February 8, 2018 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road) with interment in Brookland Cemetery.
