Russell Carter Rafferty

Russell C. Rafferty, 88, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on November 22, 2025. Russ was an auto mechanic with Jim Cooke Buick and Courtesy Cadillac. He loved flea marketing, gardening, boating, fishing, traveling with his wife and sister-in-law, Cathy Melton, talking with friends or strangers (he had the gift of gab), cheering on his U.K. Wildcats and having fun with family and friends.

Russell was the son of the late Carter and Lennie Rafferty. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Eunice; daughter, Becky Moon; sons, Russell, Mark (Beth) & Daniel (Patrice) Rafferty; 10 grandchildren, Megan Heines (Todd), John Habenstein, Mariel Habenstein, Jennifer Rafferty, Christy Crenshaw (Aaron), Lauren Clark (Andrew), Lindsey Allen (Brandon), Leah Rafferty, Daniel Rafferty, Jr. and Kayla Rafferty; 16 great-grandchildren; his sister, Alice Settles plus many nieces, nephews and greats. Russell was preceded in death by his brothers Harold, Eddie & Jimmy Rafferty; his sister, Anna Jean Forde; and his son-in-law, David Moon.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025 from 1p.m. until 8 p.m. and Tuesday, December 2, 2025 from 10 a.m. until noon at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home, 4895 N. Preston Highway. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, in the chapel with burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery.
