Shalonda Renee Hammon, age 45, of Louisville returned to her Heavenly Father on Friday, November 15, 2024. She was born on December 13, 1978, in Louisville, Kentucky to Morris Ray Hammon, Jr. and the late Shirley Lee (Mickens) Hammon. Shalonda devoted her life to Christ at a young age. She was a graduate of Sullivan University and was a lady of many talents: she loved to sing, dance and write poetry. She was well known for her cooking skills, whether it be her famous chocolate and strawberry cakes, pizza, wings or macaroni and cheese, she made sure her loved ones never left her table hungry. Shalonda loved to visit the mountains of Gatlinburg as often as she could, but her true passion was her family; spending time with her father, siblings and nieces and nephews was what she held most dear. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Beulah Masden; aunts, Betty Hadnot and Mary Esters and numerous dear family members.
She leaves to cherish her memory her father, Morris Ray Hammon, Jr. (Shirley); siblings, Kelly Swearingen, Kenny Hammon (Lynn), Lamont Hammon (Renee), Saundra Brown and Justin Hammon (Crystal); grandmother, Katherine Newby (Paul); aunt, Yvonne Swearingen; bonus-brother, Mikey Mickens; best friend, Breonna Foree; special friends, Deborah Mickens, James and Sarah McMillan, Tiffany Owens and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral service will be conducted on Monday, November 25, 2024, at 12:30 pm in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with interment in Highland Memory Gardens. Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday, November 24, 2024, from 3 pm until 8 pm and on Monday, November 25, 2024, from 9 am until the time of the funeral at the funeral home.
