Shirley Fern Warren

Shirley Fern Warren, age 78, of Hillview returned to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. She was born on October 14, 1945, in Greensburg, Kentucky to the late Sidney Carter and Laura (Atwell) Peace. Shirley loved flowers and having neighbors and neighborhood children at her house. She was known as “everyone’s mom”. She was a great cook, known especially for her cornbread dressing and fried chicken. The weekend was always filled with a big breakfast, complete with biscuits and gravy. Everyone was always welcome at Shirley’s table. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Mitchell Warren and her siblings, Jeanette Edwards, James Carter, Hugh Carter, Freddy Carter, Tommy Carter, Gerald Carter, Jerry Peace and Betty Roberts.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Cheryl Andrews, Linda Toohey (Chuck) and Gail Thompson (Wayne); grandchildren, J.D. Newton, Talya Newton, Corey Newton, Cole Andrews, Cathy Mattingly, Jasmine Lynn (Corey), Adam Thompson and Rebekah Thompson; great-grandchildren, Eric Murrell, Kamden Murrell (John), Aidan Murrell, Ryan Thompson, Collin Newton, Mia Mattingly, Eli Mattingly and Kaizyn “June Bug” Andrews; great-great grandchildren, Carter Murrell and Kaia Lynn on-the-way; brothers, James “Popper” Peace (Darlene) and Robert Peace; her fur-baby Daisy “Wiggle Butt” and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 2 pm in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with interment in Brookland Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 10 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
