Stephen J. Watkins

   Stephen J. Watkins, age 76 of Hillview, returned to his Heavenly Father on Monday, October 9, 2023, with loving family by his side. He was born on November 7, 1946 in Allen County, Ohio to the late Raymond Watkins and Ruby (Bracy) Cox. He was a veteran, serving proudly in The United States Army. Stephen was a “jack of all trades” who could tackle anything. He loved waterskiing, boating, fishing and thoroughbred race horses, but his true passion was his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Cynthia Rose Anderson and Ruby Darlene Southward.

   He leaves to cherish his memory Angie Watkins; his daughters, Jennifer Travis (Stephen) and Bonnie Abell (Raymond); son, Stephen L. Watkins (Glenda); grandchildren, Jonathan, Joshua (Ada), Jeremy (Kerry), Ayla (Orville) and Abigail (Matt); great-grandchildren, Eastin, Ripp, Vincent, Kane, and a great-granddaughter on the way; great-great grandson, “Little D”; brother, Jerry Watkins (Marilyn) and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

   Friends and family may pay their respects on Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 2 pm until 4 pm at Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Hwy. in Shepherdsville).  The family will honor Mr. Watkins’ wish of a private Memorial Service.
