Susan May Carpenter

Susan May Carpenter, age 77, of Shepherdsville, Ky was called home to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, November 8, 2025, with her family by her side. Susan May Payne was born on February 17, 1948, to the late Frank and Maureen Payne. She was the eldest of three children (Peter and Lawrie). Susan met her husband and the father of her children James Middleton USAF in England and moved to the U.S. after his tour was complete where she proudly became a U.S. Citizen and had her three children.  Susan resident of Shepherdsville, Kentucky and that was where she resided most of her life. She was a faithful member of Divine Savior Lutheran Church; she was easy to get along with and she will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her children’s father, and her late husband James R. Carpenter, Sr.

She is survived by her children Connie Tyler (Ron), Robert Middleton (Lea), and Sarah Carter (Eric), along with her grandchildren Stephen Tyler (Laura), Rachael Sigsby (Steven), and 5 great grandsons. She also leaves behind a stepfather Ray Miles, step siblings, stepchildren Michelle Smith and James R. Carpenter Jr., their children and grandchildren as well as a multitude of extended family and friends. 

A Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Divine Savior Lutheran Church (1025 N. Buckman Street Shepherdsville, Ky 40165). The visitation will be held at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Hwy, at John Harper Freeway) on Wednesday November 12, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Thursday morning at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery.
