

Thomas B. Heilers, 77, of Louisville, Kentucky, returned to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, with his family by his side. Tom was born in Huntingberg, Indiana, on November 5, 1948, to the late Linus Heilers and Lucille (Boeglin) Heilers. He was a proud Navy veteran. Tom retired from Kindred Health Care and was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, American Legion Post 124 in Ferdinand, Indiana, and Our Lady’s Rosary Makers. Tom enjoined fishing and spending time with family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his fur baby, Reba. For nearly 20 years, Tom and his wife, Karen, were coordinators for Retrouvaille, a marriage ministry, in the Archdiocese of Louisville and the dioceses of Owensboro and Knoxville. Since retiring, his main mission in life has been making rosaries for missions overseas. Tom was a loving and devoted husband, dad, grandpa and brother. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John Heilers.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 53 years, Karen Heilers, daughter Lynn Marie Samuell (Chris), son Timothy Heilers, daughter Michele Inclan (Jason), grandchildren Vincent Richeson, Magdalena, Claudia, Isidore and Leonidas Inclan, two step-grandchildren Jacob Samuell (Ashlyn) and their six children, and Catherine Embry (Cody) and their three children, siblings Karen Sue Fergurson, Fred Heilers, Mary Cope (Ronnie), and a host of nieces, nephews and other dear family and friends.
A visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 8, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home, 4895 N. Preston Highway in Shepherdsville. A Catholic Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 11501 Maple Way, in Louisville, followed by a Celebration of Life at Hampton Inn & Suites, 50 Bourbon Street, in Radcliff, Kentucky, at 12 p.m. A burial with military honors will take place at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, 2501 N. Dixie Blvd. in Radcliff, at 2:30 p.m.
