Wanda Jean Jenkins

Mrs. Wanda Jean Jenkins, age 85, of Louisville, returned to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. Mrs. Jenkins was born in Kitts, KY on May 23, 1939 to the late Kelly Lay and Artie Minton Lay. She was a devoted member of Gethsemane Baptist Church for over 60 years and a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

In addition to her parents, her beloved husband, Harold Jenkins; brother, Jerry Lay; brothers-in-law, Ronald Jenkins, Ronald Tidwell and Donnie Jones and many other cherished family and friends preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Jennifer Jasso (John); grandson, Isaac Lewis; sisters, Barbara Powell (Joseph), Betty Tidwell and Charlene Jones; sisters-in-law, Sharon Coleman and Shirley Lay; a host of nieces, nephews and other dear family. 

Funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday, September 30, 2024 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home, Mt. Washington (123 Winning Colors Dr., Mt. Washington)  with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Friends and family may pay their respects on Sunday, September 29, 2024 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Monday from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:30 pm at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Gethsemane Baptist Church.
