

Mr. William Howard French, age 88, of Louisville, returned to his Heavenly Father on May 15, 2018. Mr. French was born in Lodiburg, KY on July 28, 1929 to the late Charlie and Lottie French. He was a Deacon at Bicknell Ave. Baptist Church and he served in the United States Army during the Korean War. In the early years of his career, he was a brakeman at L & N Railroad until his time at General Electric where he retired after 34 years of service. He was also a member of GE Workers Union IUE- CWA and he loved his Kentucky Wildcats.
Among those who preceded him in death include his, great grandson, Jaxson and his brothers, Doug, G.R., Virgil, James and Charles French.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of almost 60 years (this August), Wanda Turpin French; his daughters, Sheila Greene, Joyce McCauley (David), Dana Hinton (Bryan) and Lisa Wyatt (Brian); grandchildren, Tiffany, Heidi, Abby, D’ Lane, Gabby, Greg, Ryan, Chris, Rachel, Cameron, Kaylee and Leah; great- grandchildren, Adrianna, Samantha, Lillian, Gretchen, Adelheid, Griselda, Sydney, Luke, Daven, Nolan, Alexis, Kaeden, Kynleigh, Jaxson, Brayden and Leelyn and a host of other dear friends and family.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 18, 2018 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home, Mt. Washington (Hwy 44 east at 123 Winning Colors Dr.) with burial to follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Friends and family may pay their respects on Thursday from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
The family of Mr. French would like to express their gratitude to Hosparus and the Veterans Administration for their love and care during a difficult time.
