Robert H. Clark, 89, of Vancouver passed away peacefully October 15, 2015 at his home with his wife by his side. He was born June 11, 1926 in Waco, Texas to Stacey and Mayre Clark.
As a young boy in Texas, Bob lost his father. Shortly after his father's death, his mother decided to move them to Bremerton, Washington to be near a close friend. Bob graduated from Bremerton High School and then served his country during WWII in the Marine Corps. After returning, Bob became a state patrolman, working motorcycle patrol, then a police officer with the Mount Vernon Police Dept., retiring as a Sgt. After retiring, he and Patricia moved to Vancouver to be closer to family.
Bob was a member of a number of organizations, including the VFW, Elks, Moose Lodge and the Eagles. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, picnicking, gardening and pretty much anything that involved water and the sun. He and Patricia enjoyed time vacationing at Wapato Point. Bob had a strong love of animals. He never met a dog he didn't like and was always trying to fatten them up with treats. In his family, he was the ultimate prankster. He knew how to keep the family laughing.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; daughters, Linda (Gene) Nurmi-McClellan and Jeanine (Michael) Philbrick-Viviano; son, Gary Lee Philbrick of Florida; grandchildren, Michelle (Dennis) Nurmi, Ryan (Stacy) Nurmi, Brooke (Joe) Viviano of Arizona, and Andrea (Todd) Viviano-Enyedy; and 7 great grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Chelan Viviano; and parents, Stacey and Mayre Clark.
A funeral service for Bob will be held 1:00pm, Friday, October 23rd at Acacia Funeral Home in Seattle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Southwest Washington. Please share memories at www.VancouverFuneralChapel.net.
