

Longtime Anchorage, Alaska, resident Robert M. "Bob" Winslow passed away on Sept. 25, 2018, in Providence Hospital after a brief illness, at the age of 98. He was the second of three children born to Arthur and Helen Winslow in Seattle, Wash. He attended the University of Washington, majoring in business administration, and summers during his high school and college years were spent working as a purser aboard ships of Puget Sound Navigation Co. and the Alaska Steamship Co. While employed at the Alaska Steamship Co., he joined the Merchant Marines as the War Shipping Administration took over the Alaska Steamship fleet. At the end of World War II, Bob was offered a position in the Odom organization, which was expanding into Arizona. His next two years were spent in Juneau, Alaska, and Phoenix, Ariz.
In 1948, he moved to Anchorage to manage Anchorage Cold Storage, an Odom affiliate, where he remained as manager for 33 years, as well as being part of a real estate and investment partnership. He enjoyed sports and was a regular attendee of many local high school and college sporting events, as well as regularly attending Glacier Pilots and Alaska Aces games and several World Series. He and his wife Diane enjoyed traveling to many foreign countries, as well as spending time at their cottage on Bainbridge Island near Seattle. His memberships include: the Pioneers of Alaska, Alaska Yukon Pioneers, Anchorage Elks Club, Maritime Masonic Lodge No. 239 and Scottish Rite.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Russell; his sister, Helen; and his wife, Diane.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda Nudd (James) of Calgary, Alberta; grandchildren, Cody and Jessica; and many great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018, at 2 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 616 West 10th Avenue in Anchorage, 907-272-6411. Interment will be at Acacia Memorial Park in Seattle.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Deacons Fund of the First Presbyterian Church of Anchorage.
