

Dr. Adalberto P. Rodriguez of Lawrenceville, GA passed away with family by his side on Tuesday July 19, 2022, one day shy of his 89th birthday. He was born on July 20, 1933 in Havana, Cuba. He and his wife, Elsa Rodriguez, nee Delgado, were married November 23, 1957. Adalberto began his study of medicine at the Universidad de Havana. Adalberto and Elsa left Cuba in 1958 for Venezuela where he completed his medical studies at the Universidad del Centro in 1960. Subsequently, they lived in Barcelona, Venezuela where Adalberto ran a small private medical practice from his home. In 1963, Adalberto and Elsa immigrated to the United States of America to Tucson, Arizona where he completed a general surgery internship at Pima County General Hospital. In 1966 he went on to complete a general surgery residency in Atlanta, Georgia at Piedmont Hospital. In 1968, Adalberto and his family moved to Nashville Tennessee, where he completed a residency in urological surgery at Vanderbilt University. In 1970, Adalberto and Elsa returned to Atlanta with their four young children where he joined The Atlanta Urological Group with whom he practiced until 1997. In addition to being a top skilled urologist, Adalberto showed compassion and grace for his patients through his commitment to building personal relationships with numerous patients and their families throughout his medical career.
In his retirement he enjoyed many years of traveling the world which he enjoyed immensely. His last trip abroad was to Jerusalem in 2012. Adalberto was an avid and vast reader who particularly enjoyed non-fiction historical books. Adalberto’s generosity to his family and friends saw no bounds and his great legacy of love lives on in his children and their children.
Adalberto is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elsa, as well as by his children Vivian Selem (Orestes), Alberto Rodriguez, Alex Rodriguez (Christina), and Mary Boza; grandchildren, Alex Selem (Lisa), Christopher Selem, Kristina Wright (Steven), Olivia Boza, Tony Boza, Isabella Rodriguez, Matthew Boza, Javi Rodriguez, and Maya Rodriguez; and great grandchildren, Cameron, Elliott, and Kai. He is also survived by many long-time friends and colleagues whom he cherished very much.
Funeral services will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 27th at 1:30 pm in Flowery Branch, GA. Internment will follow at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens in Snellville, GA.
