

Alan was born January 15, 1954 in Oakland, California to the late Nancy Bowman Wagoner of Browns Summit, North Carolina and the late Jack Robert Wagoner of Guilford County, North Carolina. He graduated from Southern High School in Durham, North Carolina in 1972, where he was very active in the theatre program. Alan graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1976 and remained an avid UNC sports fan. He worked in the hospitality and customer service industries for many years. Alan was very active in the United Methodist Men at Mountain Park United Methodist Church. He loved comedy and was always telling jokes. He enjoyed listening to oldies music and watching sports, movies, and game shows with his family.
Alan leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Deborah DeBord Wagoner and his children, Michael E. Wagoner and Katherine M. Wagoner. He is survived by sister Kathryn W. Hansen, brother R. Neil (Faye) Wagoner, sister CJ Wagoner (Verle) Regnerus, and brother Steven B. (Sandy) Wagoner. He is also survived by a nephew and six nieces.
A memorial service with reception to follow will be held on June 24, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Mountain Park United Methodist Church, 1405 Rockbridge Rd SW, Stone Mountain, Georgia 30087.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Alan’s name to either Mountain Park UMM or the American Diabetes Association.
