Alice Bates Quigg, age 81, passed away peacefully after a short illness on August 25, 2026. Born in Asheville, North Carolina on April 19, 1945, Alice was a proud member of the Lee H. Edwards High School Class of 1963. A longtime resident of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Alice was deeply proud of her hard work as a legal secretary over many years with various law firms, taking great pride in continuing her work from home until earlier this year.
A beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, Alice enjoyed travel, reading, politics, and Elvis Presley. Her loss leaves a void in our hearts, but our memories of her will be cherished forever.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Eugene Bates and Mary Landers Bates, and her son, Marvin Lee "Skipper" Quigg.
Alice’s legacy lives on through her surviving family. She is survived by her daughter, Annette Hixson, and her husband, Joshua; her son, Charles Edward "Skeeter" Quigg; her sister, Patricia Bates Bell; her grandchildren, Jesse Hixson, Jenna Brian and her husband Caleb, and Nikki Quigg Chaffin and her husband Matt; her great-grandchildren, Everly and Emmett Brian; as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Service for Mrs. Quigg will be held Friday, August 28, 2026
Visitation will begin at 1:30 PM, the Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 PM followed immediately by the Committal Service.
