

Anna May Whittemore, 78, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, in Stone Mountain. Anna was born on August 28, 1932 in Phoenixville, PA to John and Mary Ann Yassick. She worked for many years as a private duty nurse before working for 16 years at Dekalb Medical Center, where she retired. Mrs. Whittemore was a loving wife, mother, sister and daughter who loved to spend time with her family, travel, reading and music. Anna was very involved in community service and was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and the Sassy Lassies Red Hatters Club of Tucker, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Robert Whittemore, brother Michael F. Yassick and son-in-law Max Peterman. Survivors include her daughters Roberta Serra and husband Michael of Stone Mountain, Jane Peterman of Conyers, Mary McCane and husband Stewart of Stockbridge and Audrey Saleem and husband Ed of Snellville, sons Bob Whittemore of Kalamazoo, MI and Chris Whittemore and wife Sonya of Loganville, sisters Dorothy Krepps of York, PA and Sister Mary Jane Yassick of Ashton, PA, 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 7-9 pm on Friday, March 11, 2011 at Eternal Hills Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with Father Greg Kenny officiating. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Memory Gardens.
