Benjamin Douglas Etheridge was born August 10, 1941 in Winder, GA to Frank Benjamin Ethridge and wife Grace Irene Patrick, and passed away on September 14, 2019. He graduated from Winder-Barrow High school in 1959 and from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1965. Her married Anne Branch Phillips, daughter of Hayward Steward Phillips and wife Anna Elizabeth Branch on June 21, 1964 in Augusta, GA. Doug, as he was called, worked as a project manager and lead engineer for Simons-Eastern Consulting Company until 1990. At that point, he and Anne started their own business, Art Gallery Framing, where they managed two stores in the Atlanta area. The stores were very successful as they blended Doug’s engineering strengths with Anne’s artistic abilities. Later they expanded their operations to include GoldEagle Airsoft arena, creating the largest indoor arena in the country. When Anne passed in 2009, Doug focused his energies on GoldEagle and closed down the Art Gallery Framing stores.
Doug is survived by his daughter, Suzanna Rawlins (Marvin Lee “Jody” Jr.) son, Brian Etheridge (Sarah) and grandchildren Madison, Paige, Sydney, Brynlee and Brody as well as his sister Judy Cook (John) nephew Cris Cook (Jill) and niece Kim West (Cary) and grand nieces Caroline Cook and Alie West and grand nephews Jack Cook and Rhotie West.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Gwinnett Humane Society or to the donor’s local humane society.
