

Imolene H. Ellis, 97, of Grayson GA passed away on Tuesday, January 7th. Imolene was born to Chester Lee Haynes and Mary Francis Wigginton on August 22, 1927 in Blountsville AL. After completing training at the Gadsden Beauty Academy on October 2, 1947, she began her career in cosmetology. On October 28, 1950 she married Nolon Elijah Ellis. They were married by a Lowndes County Mississippi Justice of the Peace. After running her own beauty shop and raising four boys she decided to earn her High School Equivalency Certificate. Imolene accomplished that on August 25, 1980 at 53 years old. She also earned two Occupational Certificates from DeKalb Community College, one in typing and one in accounting. Her favorite pastime oil painting, and Imolene became a certified instructor by the Alexander Art Corporation in March of 1994. She attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Rockdale County until she moved to assisted living at the Benton House in Grayson GA in 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband Nolon Elijah Ellis along with her sisters, Mattie Lou Davis and Ruby Young, and her brothers Jay and Bob Haynes. She is survived by her four sons, Phil Ellis of Conyers, Joel Ellis of Ashfork AZ, Doug (Lynne) Ellis of Hartwell, and Ken Ellis of South Pasadena FL, 3 grandsons Matt Ellis, Jake (Megan) Ellis, Logan Ellis, 2 great granddaughters Piper and Quinn Ellis, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Eternal Hills Funeral Home in Snellville on Friday, January 17th. The family will receive friends 11am-1pm with the funeral service at 1pm followed by a graveside service at 2pm.
