Burton P Levy passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 5, 2022 at age 85. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Burt was born April 23, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY to Moe and Reba (Kirchner) Levy. He was the twin brother of Stephen Levy and younger brother of Martin Levy. Burt grew up in Brooklyn and joined the Army reserves in 1960. He married Beverlee Postal and had two children; Janet and Ronald. They later divorced and he married Suzanne Parsons (Seeber) in Greensboro, NC on July 5, 1975 and they had two children; Aron and Rachel. Burt and Suzanne blended their family to include Suzanne’s son, Christopher and her younger sister, Mimi and in January of 1977, they also welcomed Janet and Ronald where they lived altogether.
Burt had a life-long career with AT&T, he started at Western Electric in NYC and grew a successful path where he transferred from NY to NC to FL back to NC, then to NJ, and finally to GA where he retired. After retirement, he held several jobs to keep himself busy and he also played golf. He loved golf and everything about it. He even made golf clubs not only for himself, but for his kids and grandkids. Everyone who knew Burt, was touched by his incredibly inappropriate, but funny sense of humor. He loved spending time with family and enjoyed spoiling his kids and grandchildren in ways that was unique to each one. Whether it was shopping trips or going out to eat, or having a glass of wine or scotch, he was always in the moment. The highlight at every wedding, was when he danced with his daughters. He loved to dance with them. He always had an optimistic outlook and even remained positive when he was diagnosed with stage IV Pancreatic cancer less than four weeks ago.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Stephen, and wife Suzanne (Parsons) Levy, and (step) son Christopher Seeber. He is survived by his children, Janet Logan, her husband Alan, Ronald Levy, Aron
Maroto, her husband Bernie, and Rachel Bruce, her husband Jason. He was known as ‘Poppy’ to his grandchildren; Brian Levy, Rebecca Adams, her husband Austin, Amanda Levy, Anthony Booth, Alexys Logan, Cecelia Seeber, Evan Levy, Alexander Jung, Skyler Seeber, Kylie Logan, Haven Bruce, Ethan Maroto, Elizabeth Bruce, Leila Seeber, Lilah Maroto, and great-grandchild, Bentley Adams. He is also survived by his brother Martin Levy, brother-in-law Alan Parsons, sister-in-law Mimi Perper, and numerous nieces and nephews.
It is Burt’s wishes to not have a formal funeral or memorial service, instead he agreed to have a celebration of his life at home ‘sitting shiva’ (sitting shiva is a Jewish mourning ritual/tradition) and enjoying a ‘potluck’ where family and friends could gather, visit, tell stories, and be blessed with loving, happy, and funny memories. All are welcome who would like to attend the potluck during the following days and hours at Aron’s home. Please contact Aron, Janet, or Rachel for the address. If you would like to bring something, the family requests you bring photos and/or anything else you’d like to share.
Monday 8/8, Tuesday 8/9 and Wednesday 8/10 between 3:00pm and 7:00pm
