Carmen Julia Laracuente Maldonado (Julie) (1937-2019). Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, she married Dr. José M. Laracuente, U.S. Army Colonel, and lived in various cities throughout Puerto Rico and the United States. Carmen was a loving wife, mother to two sons, and grandmother to four wonderful children. She graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with a degree in Biology. Starting out as a medical technologist, she then shifted careers after her children graduated high school, and excelled in real estate in South Florida until retirement. Carmen was a renaissance woman who enjoyed classical music including playing the piano, the theater, art, and different food which included chocolate and desserts. She also loved Puerto Rico, its people, culture and beaches. She is survived by her husband of 59 years and her two sons, José and Antonio and their spouses, Shelley and Maria and her four grandchildren, Donald José, Nicolas Javier, José Antonio and Anelise Maria. She also is survived by her sisters, Gladys Cole and Zaida Maldonado and her brother, Antonio Maldonado. Carmen’s loving family is committed to supporting medical research to find a cure for Parkinson’s Disease.
