Carolyn Annette Polston, 92, finished her journey on this earth and found peace with our Lord on October 3, 2025. She was predeceased by her husband, Olon Polston; son, Kenneth Farrar; and stepson, Timothy Polston. She is survived by son, Noel Farrar (Teresa); daughter, Denise Farrar; and stepchildren: Linda Bowen (Ed), Rebecca Dally (Hal), and Kevin Polston (Deborah), as well as 18 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grands.
Annette had a strong Christian faith, and was a member of Mountain Park United Methodist Church. She was a faithful supporter of Methodist missions, and taught Sunday School and Bible Study classes over the years.
Annette worked as a bookkeeper at Simons-Eastern Company in Decatur, Georgia, where Olon was on staff as a structural engineer. After the passing of his first wife, the two developed a friendship that eventually culminated in their marriage in 1989. They had a lot in common, starting with their common roots having grown up in Florida farming communities, and enjoyed attending church, working in their flower and vegetable gardens, square-dancing, and teaching ESL classes in the community. Annette and Olon shared a strong sense of intellectual curiosity and loved travelling together, absorbing the culture, history and natural beauty of other countries, always returning with photographs and videos to share their adventures.
Though all their children had reached adulthood when they married, Annette and Olon accepted each other’s extended families as their own, cherishing the opportunity to share, nurture and inspire them. They valued education and encouraged family members to pursue academic degrees or technical certifications in their chosen fields, ensuring resources were always available for their loved ones to reach their career goals.
Following Olon's death in 2009, Annette continued to serve as the wise and respected matriarch of her extended family. Even in her final days, as her body was failing, her mind remained sharp. She will be deeply missed, yet her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her. “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 30 at Mountain Park United Methodist Church, 1405 Rockbridge Rd, SW, Stone Mountain, GA 30087.
