Dan was a hardworking man who devoted his life to taking care of his family and anyone else in need. He was the kind of person who would give the shirt off his own back for a stranger without hesitation. His strength, generosity, and steady presence brought comfort and strength to all who knew him.
Dan built a career as a general construction superintendent spanning over 30 years, much of it across the state of Georgia. He took pride in his work and brought the same dedication and reliability to the job site that he brought to everything else in his life.
Above all else, Dan loved his family deeply. He was a proud and loving husband to Kristy Barton, a devoted father and grandfather, and a man whose greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren. He loved hunting, fishing, his faith in the Lord, and creating memories with the people he loved most.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents, George and Helen Barton, his son, Keith Barton, and his brothers-in-law, Tony Monforte and Roman Powaluk.
He is survived by his wife, Kristy Barton; his son, Jacob Barton and Noelle, and their children Chloe, Amelia, Jace, and Emmett; his daughter, Samantha Bryant and Beau, and their children Josie and Noah; and his stepson, Thomas Woods and Mallory, and their children Luke and Lily.
He is also survived by his siblings, Becky Monforte, Kirk Barton and Gayle, Kathy Creeley and Jerri, Sandy Powaluk, Sue Testa and Jim, and Doug Barton and Elaine, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Dan will be remembered for his servant's heart, unwavering love for his family, strong faith, and his willingness to help anyone in need. His legacy of love, hard work, and selflessness will live on through all who knew and loved him.
In accordance with Dan's wishes, no formal services will be held in Georgia. A small private gathering with family will be held in New York to honor and celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dan's memory to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance at colorectalcancer.org
