Diana Jerree Risacher

Diana graduated from Berkmar High School in 1981. She has held several jobs in her working life, but she especially enjoyed working with children. She was a lead preschool teacher for Snellville United Methodist Church for many years and spent the last 12 years as a school bus driver for Rockdale County Public Schools. She grew up learning to love Jesus at John Wesley United Methodist Church, where she developed many lifelong friends. Diana was heavily involved in the church at both Conyers First United Methodist and Covington First United Methodist. She participated in several mission trips with the youth group organizations of each as well.

Diana was an avid UGA fan, loved to cook for friends and family, and enjoyed gardening around the house. She was a nature and animal lover, especially of her beloved cats and dogs. She loved traveling, and was always planning the next adventure. In 2020, she discovered a love of hiking with expressed interests in the national parks. She visited several of them in her last 6 years with her family and hiking crew. Last year, she was proud to complete the Georgia portion of the Appalachian Trail.

Diana would always be the first to arrive and the last to leave. She had a remarkable nurturing spirit that left deep impressions on everyone who had the privilege to know her. Her charm and warmth was what made her husband Mark fall in love with her, marrying in 1992, and spending 34 lasting years together at their home in Conyers. Her proudest achievements were her two children, Michael and Rachel Risacher. Although she will be greatly missed, her family will continue to keep her spirit alive through the principles she instilled in them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert Clay Richardson Jr. and Ruth Lee Richardson. She is survived by her husband, Mark Risacher; children, Michael and Rachel Risacher; brother James Richardson (Sharon), and sister, Julia (Todd) Simpson; uncle Tom Richardson; cousins Jerry Lee and Johnny Lee; brother-in-laws John (Leanne) Fonda, and David Fonda; nephews, David (Aaren) Richardson, Ryan (Courtney) Simpson, Steven (Ashleigh) Simpson; nieces Erica (Kevin) Buffington, Belinda (Jaron) Fonda, Savannah (Mitch) Weintraub, and Amanda Fonda; She leaves behind several grand-nieces/nephews as well.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 29 at Covington First United Methodist Church, 1113 Conyers Street SW, Covington, GA 30014. Visitation begins at 11:00a.m. with the service held at 1:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. or the National Park Foundation, organizations that were meaningful to Diana.
