

Dorothy Anita Barrett, affectionately known as “Dot”, 85, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014, in Social Circle. Dot was born on September 25, 1928 in Atlanta to John and Ethel Piper. She was an avid homemaker and seamstress who loved to knit and crochet. Dot was a proud Christian woman and avidly defended the Primitive Baptist faith. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and was known to her grandchildren and great grandchildren as “Ma” and “Memaw”. She truly enjoyed her friends and fellow residents of Great Oaks. Mrs. Barrett was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John R. “Dick” Barrett. Survivors include her daughters Ellen Mann and husband Bennie of Loganville and Joan Ward and husband Tony, sister Johnnie Mae Miller of Augusta, grandchildren Ben Mann and wife Kelli, Melanie Feathers and husband Scott, Julie McCart and husband Jeremy, Stacy, Kelly and Robbie and her loving great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Friday, April 18, 2014, at Eternal Hills Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 19, 2014, in the Eternal Hills Funeral Home Chapel with Elder John Melvin, Elder Ronnie Loudermilk and Lester Waters officiating. Burial will be at 4:00pm on Saturday at the Shoal Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Elder Ed Cagle and Elder Randall Cagle officiating.
