Dotson Benefield, 87, of Lawrenceville, Ga. went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday June 16, 2018. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday June 19, with the funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. The visitation and funeral will be held at Eternal Hills Funeral Home, 3594 Stone Mountain Hwy, Snellville, Ga. 30039, with Rick Brittain, Mr. Benefield’s son-in-law, officiating. Burial will follow in the Eternal Hills Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
Dotson Benefield was born in Cullman, Alabama, to Orie and Offie Benefield on March 6, 1931. He graduated from West Point High School in Cullman. He met Bettie Ann Caudle, his wife of almost 68 years, in high school, and they married two years later on June 30, 1950. He worked in the oil business for many years in Alabama and later moved his family to Georgia in 1973 to start a new career in the executive search/recruiting business. Only a few years later he started his own firm, Dotson Benefield and Associates, which he ran for 30 years until his retirement. He was a veteran and served in the Army during the time of the Korean conflict. He was very involved in his church and served as a deacon for many years. His church home at the time of his death was Hebron Baptist Church in Dacula, Ga. He also spent many years on the board of directors for Youth for Christ. He was a faithful follower of Christ.
Mr. Benefield was preceded in death by Orie Columbus Benefield (father), Offie Geanette (Brown) Benefield (mother), and Weda (Benefield) Holmes (sister).
Mr. Benefield is survived by his wife Bettie Ann (Caudle) Benefield, and children: Richard Dotson Benefield, Mark Wayne Benefield, Denise Ann (Benefield) Brittain, Michael Orie Benefield, and Jane Jeanette (Benefield) Bailey, and their spouses, 10 grandchildren, 3 grandchildren-in-law, and 4 great grandchildren.
