Writing this still feels unreal. Losing our father has created a silence in our heart that words struggle to fill. Yet, even in this pain, we find comfort when we think about the kind of man, always steady, disciplined, principled, and full of quiet love.

Papa's life was shaped by hard work. As an engineer, he never did anything halfway. He carried everyone along, whether it was family, colleagues, or younger men he mentored. His discipline was firm, sometimes tough, but it built us all into the adults that we are today. The values he instilled in us; respect, responsibility, strength, and compassion are the same values we try to pass down to our own children.

When he later spent more time in the US, he didn’t become a stranger. Instead, he built another kind of family there. People who knew him spoke about his warmth, his straightforwardness, and the way he made them feel welcome. They admired his work ethic, his humour, and the wisdom he shared so casually. Even far from home, he touched hearts, made lasting friendships, and found a community that cared deeply for him.

It brings us comfort to know that he was surrounded by people who valued him. They saw the same strength, kindness, and quiet dignity that we saw in him back in his stay in Nigeria. And even though he will be laid to rest in the US, a part of him remains with us in Nigeria, in our stories, in our memories, and in the lessons he engraved in our lives.

Papa thank you for everything you taught us. Thank you for the sacrifices, the discipline, and the love that didn’t always need words to be felt. We will carry your name with pride and your values with honor.

We celebrate the life of a man whose presence brought peace, strength, and grace to everyone
around him. A loving father, a true gentleman, and a God-fearing soul, he walked through life
with humility, kindness, and a heart committed to peacemaking.
He lived quietly, yet his impact was profound. His calm spirit could steady any storm, and his
gentle words carried wisdom that guided his family through life’s many seasons. He loved
deeply and gave selflessly, always placing others before himself. To his children, he was a
protector, a teacher, and a source of unwavering love. To all who knew him, he was a shining
example of patience, faith, and integrity.
His faith in God was the foundation of his life. He loved listening to gospel Christian songs that
lifted his spirit and filled his home with praise. Morning and night, he devoted himself to
studying the Word of God, grounding each day in prayer and reflection. He continually thanked
God for His protection, His provision, His faithfulness, and His lovingkindness toward his
family. Through his devotion, he showed everyone around him the beauty of a sincere and steady
walk with God.
Now that you rest safely in the bosom of the Lord, we take comfort in knowing you are at peace.
May your loved ones and all those you left behind hold firmly to God, keeping our eyes on Jesus
Christ without turning back from our faith. Your life of devotion inspires us to remain steadfast,
trusting in God’s unfailing love and guidance just as you did.
I miss you, Papa. What keeps my faith strong is knowing that you are in the hands of the
Almighty God, surrounded by saints and angels in heaven, rejoices for a life well spent on
earth. This hope brings peace to my heart and strength to my spirit.

You showed me what it truly means to put family first and raised such amazing people who will carry your legacy forward. I cherish the little moments and the smiles we shared, the way you called me your “darling daughter,” and our special exchange of “darling uncle,” a bond only we understood.

Your laugh that filled the house whenever you visited will stay with me. I’ll hold onto your thoughtful glances, your steady presence, and the wise words you always seemed to offer at just the right time. You will forever be in my heart.

How do I begin to say goodbye to the man who was my heart for more than sixty years? Even now, I still reach for you out of habit, out of love, and out of the bond we built—one that time cannot break. Life feels different without your voice, your laughter, and the comfort of your presence beside me. You were not just my husband; you were my companion through every joy, setback, quiet moment, and season of change. You were my safe place, my steady rock, the one person who truly understood me.

From our quiet life in Enugu State to our years here in the United States, I remain grateful that I said yes to you, Azubuikem. Together we raised four children—Uchenna, Nwamaka, Frank, and Obiageli—and you were so proud of them. They carry your strength, your discipline, your gentleness, and the quiet determination that defined you. They are your living legacy, shaped by every value you taught and every sacrifice you made.

I will remember the way you looked at me as if I were the only one in the room. I will remember your stories, your warmth, and how you made every ordinary day meaningful. You filled our home with peace, laughter, and a love that never wavered, even when life tested us.

My heart is heavy, yet full of gratitude. How blessed I was to walk through life with you, to love you, and to be loved by you. Yours was a rare love—steady, patient, and true. A love that lifted me up and shaped who I am.

Rest now, di m ómá. Rest in the peace you deserve. Though your journey here has ended, your presence remains in our children, our grandchildren, and in all the memories we shared.

To my big brother, AZ, farewell and rest in peace. I'm grateful that you lived a fulfilling life, and I appreciate the countless memories we shared. Your stories about your accomplishments inspired me, and I'm thankful for the time we spent together. 

Family was at the heart of everything you did, and your love for us was evident in the way you always put us first. I cherish the moments we shared, from my time at the Institute of Management and Technology in Enugu for extramural studies, where you opened your home to me, to my first job after high school, which you helped me secure. 

Your guidance and support played a significant role in shaping me into the person I am today. I'm grateful for the opportunity to have paid it forward in my own way. Our visits, like the one to your swearing-in ceremony as a United States citizen in Atlanta, Georgia, are etched in my memory forever. The countless hours we spent talking about family remain in my thoughts. 

Though your passing leaves a void, I take comfort in knowing that your legacy lives on through our family. I loved you, not just because you were my brother, but because of the incredible person you were. As you begin your new journey, I hope you'll prepare a place for me, just as you always did in life. I can’t say I know for sure there’s such a place. But just in case. 😂 Rest in peace, big bro.

After a couple of errands, my brother, AZ, who is now a certified senior citizen, decided to treat me to congo meat (snails) for lunch. He overheard me talking about it recently. So off we went to Ik's Bar and Grille Restaurant (Ghanaian). The food was excellent. I had chicken suya for the first time. Never heard of it, until today, snails, stockfish, and jollof rice. He had snails and fish pepper soup.  (Barry)

Tribute to My Grandpa
About a week ago, we received the heartbreaking news of Grandpa’s passing. Today, I honor the memory of a man whose kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit shaped our lives in unforgettable ways.
Even though Grandpa lived far away in America while we grew up in Nigeria, distance never stopped him from loving us deeply. From our very first visit when I was just three years old, he welcomed us with open arms and warm smiles. I still remember how he gave us candies and made us feel completely at home, even though everything around us was new.
When we visited again at age seven, Grandpa and Grandma were always at the front porch waiting for us excited, joyful, and ready with hugs. He often surprised us with gifts and little envelopes of money, always giving out of pure love and care.
Our last visit, when I was thirteen , is a memory I hold close to my heart. I can still picture him sitting in the parlor, quietly watching TV calm, peaceful, and content. We watched a show together, and that simple moment has now become priceless to me. I remember how he would walk downstairs for his meals, and everyone knew to give him his calm space. These small, everyday moments mean even more now, because they remind me of the life we shared, even if it was only for a month at a time.
Grandpa was a truly good man,a kind soul and humble man. He supported us from afar, sending monetary gift whenever he could. No matter the amount, it always came straight from his heart, and that made it special.
Even though he has left us at the age of 86, nothing can erase the memories we built, the love he gave, or the impact he had on our family. My heart is heavy and saddened, but it is also full of gratitude that I knew him, gratitude for the time we shared, and gratitude that I carry his love with me forever.

A HEARTFELT TRIBUTE TO MY GRANDDAD
As his granddaughter, I am honoured to speak about my Granddad. Even though he lived far away in America, he was always close to my heart. Distance never reduced the love I felt from him. In many ways, the memories we shared made it feel as though he lived right beside me.
Some of my sweetest memories are from the times we travelled to visit him. I remember how excited he would be, waiting joyfully for our arrival. The happiness on his face was always warm, genuine, and unforgettable. One of the things I miss the most is the special nickname he had for me, “Kosiii”, which he always said with so much love. I can still hear his voice clearly.
I will never forget the joy I felt on my first day of college when he gifted me some money and encouraged me to do my best. That simple act showed how deeply he cared and how much he believed in me.
I remember his warm smiles, his encouraging words, and his gentle advice. During Christmas, I always looked forward to the little time my siblings and I spent calling him. Even though the calls were short, they meant so much. Thinking about him now brings tears to my eyes because Granddad was truly special.
What I love most about him is his smile. Whenever he smiled at me, it reminded me of the way my dad smiles at me. That connection is something I will treasure forever.
I am deeply grateful that I got to know him, to love him, and to share precious moments with him. Granddad may no longer be here physically, but the memories he gave me will live on in my heart forever.

Today, I pay tribute to a man whose presence, love, and guidance shaped my life in countless ways, my father. He was more than just the head of our home; he was our foundation, our protector, and our quiet source of strength.
My dad lived a life marked by integrity, humility, and unwavering commitment to his family. He was a complete gentleman, calm in character, disciplined in his ways, and strong in his values. Though he was strict, his discipline shaped us for the better. Every standard he set, every lesson he taught, and every correction he gave was done out of love and a desire to see us grow into responsible and purposeful individuals. Today, we can proudly say that who we are is a reflection of the values he instilled in us.
He was a devoted provider who ensured that we never lacked the basic things of life. He worked tirelessly to meet our needs, from paying our school fees promptly to making sure we had our textbooks and supplies before school resumed. He believed deeply in education and made it a priority in our lives.
My fondest childhood memories are filled with his acts of love, taking us to places like Kingsway Shop, Bata Shoes, and the Eastern Shops, always making sure we had what we needed and more. I will never forget the day he surprised me with a brand-new Chopper bicycle, a gift that has remained unforgettable not because of its value, but because of the thoughtfulness and love behind it.
My father was a man who gave without asking, who loved without demanding, and who taught by example rather than words. His life has set a standard for me, one of responsibility, generosity, discipline, and quiet strength. I pray for the grace to pass on these same values to my own children, so that his legacy may continue through generations.
Papa, I miss you more than words can express. Thank you for your sacrifices, your love, and the life lessons that continue to guide me. Your memory will forever remain a blessing in my heart.

Grandpa was always a really good grandpa. Every night we watched Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy together. You always checked on me when I got home from school or work, saying, “You’re back—everything okay? Good.” And you always told me to be careful whenever I was going out.

During school breaks, you took Grandma and me to the park to hike or just let me play. I loved riding in your car and listening to music with you. When I got into college, you even gave me a $60 allowance, and you always looked out for me, even after I started working.

When you got sick, I was really scared of losing you. But you kept fighting and stayed strong for such a long time. Even when things were hard, you were still kind, caring, and always thinking about other people.

You were a great grandpa, and I’ll always remember the time we had together.

Papa Amaka as your numerous relatives call you. Ezennia, as you were called by most people around you. I always call you Paa. Till this morning, it's still like a dream to me. As it's sad "Death is a necessary end, which will come when it will ". Who are we to question God? I am still trying to come to terms with myself that you are gone. I will always have you in my heart. I will forever cherish your fatherly advice to me. I miss you so dearly. Please take a message to your sister, my mother inlaw, let her know that, my daughter is here. Adieu Papa, I pray that the good lord will grant your gentle soul eternal rest in his kingdom. And may his perpetual light shine upon you. Rest on, till we meet to part no more 🙏
