

Elvera Claire Turrisi Adkins, age 83 of Roswell passed away Monday, July 28, 2014. She worked for over 20 years at Southern Railway now Norfolk Southern. She was a wonderful mother, a fabulous cook, a skilled gardner and adventurer who traveled the world over. Her last years were complicated with dementia. In spite of her health issues she lived as fully as possible. Born February 19, 1931 she was the third of five daughters born to Concetta and Mario Turrisi. She graduated from Walton High School in 1949. She married Edsel C. Adkins, Sr. in 1951. Vera is survived by her four children; sons, Edsel (Ed) C. Adkins, Jr., Brian K. Adkins, Mario (Marty) and Jerrie Adkins; daughter and son-in-law, Karen E. Adkins and A. Stephen Yurchek; grandchildren, Hope LeAnn Adkins, A. Alex and Courtney Adkins, Katherine N. Adkins, Christine Yurchek and Tessa Yurchek; sisters, Collette Tripodi, Marion and Alex Rifelli and Johanna Scrivo. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 11:00 am at St. Oliver Plunkett Catholic Church, Snellville, GA. Interment, Eternal Hills Memory Gardens.
