

Freddy J. Dodd, age 77, of Loganville, Georgia went to heaven before his wife, Linda, son, Andrew, daughter, Annette, and his three brothers, Burt, Kerry, and Tim. The family was grateful to be a part of his life, his time on this earth a gift and a blessing. The family is forever appreciative to God for our time with him.
Freddy was born July 2, 1946, in Atlanta. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1964 right after high school and served overseas for two years during the Vietnam War. Upon his return, Freddy went to work as a printer in Atlanta and then moved on to Super X Drug Store at Greenbrier Mall, where he met his future wife, Linda. After dating for three months, the two quickly fell in love and got married, enjoying more than 52 years together. The two settled down in Stone Mountain in 1972 and a year later, were blessed with a son. The family was complete in 1975 with the addition of their daughter.
Freddy returned to his printing roots after the family moved to Stone Mountain before switching careers to work as a bellman for Marriott in downtown Atlanta. Because of his knowledge of the area and quick wit, out of town guest of the hotel often requested Freddy to pick them up and welcome them to the city. The family moved to Loganville and after seven years with the hotel, Freddy chose a job closer to home to become a supervisor in the parts department at Hays Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep. Freddy remained with the dealership until his retirement at the age of 70.
The couple enjoyed retirement by taking trips together, including a special celebration of their 45th wedding anniversary in Hawaii. More recently, Freddy was often by his wife's side during the trials and tribulations of public service during Linda's tenure on the Loganville City Council. Freddy was admitted to the hospital on June 2nd after falling ill, but was able to return home, where friends and family often visited to keep him company.
Freddy Dodd passed away peacefully on July 30th surround by family and friends.
A visitation for Freddy will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church Loganville, 680 Tom Brewer Rd, Loganville, GA 30052. A funeral service will occur Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 11:00 AM, 680 Tom Brewer Rd, Loganville, GA 30052. An inurnment will occur Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens, 3700 Stone Mountain Highway, Snellville, Georgia 30039.
