Grover C. Fendley Jr.

Grover Cleveland Fendley, Jr., 97, of Lilburn, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, in Athens, GA. Grover was born on June 22, 1920 to Grover C. and Viola Fendley, Sr. in Clem, GA. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Fendley retired from the security department of the Sears and Roebuck Company after 40 years of dedicated service. He was an avid gardener and Atlanta Braves fan and a member of Mountain Park First Baptist Church. Grover was a quiet gentle man who was extremely dedicated to his family, especially his grandkids. Mr. Fendley was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Marie Muse Fendley, daughter Julia Marie Fendley and granddaughter Casey Marie Ferguson. Survivors include his daughters Jeannie Lawson and husband Gary of Daniel Island, SC and Janet Rutherford and husband Mark of Tuscaloosa, AL, 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Eternal Hills Funeral Home from 12 -1pm. Graveside services will follow at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, azl.org.
