Helen Jane Gowens, 84, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013, in Lawrenceville. Helen was born on January 4, 1929 in Fitzgerald, GA to Merritt and May Belle Smith. She was a 1950 graduate of the Crawford Long Hospital Nursing Program and was a Registered Nurse for many years. Mrs. Gowens was a member of Peachcrest Christian Church for 59 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Wallace D. Gowens. Survivors include her children Denise Green, Karen Cheponis, Guy Gowens and Robert Gowens, 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2-4pm on Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Eternal Hills Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:30am on Monday, May 20, 2013, in the Eternal Hills Funeral Home Chapel with Chuck Baggett officiating. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens.
