

Helen Lenkerd went home to be with Jesus very peacefully on October 1, 2022. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Charles of 62 years. Her siblings Winnette Hogue and Ernie Joe Langford as well as her parents Helen Davis Langford and Winfrey C. Langford.
She is survived by her daughter Merriehelen Myrvold(Tom) and her son Charles W Lenkerd(Brenda) and by her two grandsons RT Myrvold and Matt Lenkerd.
Helen was born in Cedartown Georgia. She and her family moved around a good bit until settling in Atlanta, Ga. She met her future soul mate Charles at Bass High School. They both graduated in 1951. They got married on October 18th 1953.
After graduating from Mercer University, Helen started teaching. She loved being a teacher. She started out in public school and then she taught at Rehobeth Presbyterian Church for a number of years. She got her MED from Mercer University and went back to teaching in the public school. She finished her illustrious teaching career at St. Timothy’s Methodist Church.
Helen loved the Lord and was very active at church. She and her family attended Druid Hills Baptist Church for many years. She and her husband were both actively involved in teaching Sunday School. When she and her family moved to Briarlake Baptist Church, they continued to remain active. At Briarlake she and Charles became active in the special needs ministry. Helen dearly loved her “kids” she taught in Sunday School. The program has grown over the years.
Helen loved to read and to do ceramics. She went to ceramics class for many years. She has gifted numerous beautiful ceramic pieces to friends and family over the years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and sudoku. She loved making cards for others, birthday cards, get well cards or just thinking about you cards. She loved people and she loved to travel after her retirement from teaching.
Helen was an amazing woman who touched so many others with her love and kindness. She loved Jesus and wanted everyone she knew to also love Jesus.
