JoAn Hardin, 86, of Norcross, Georgia, passed away following a decline in health, on February 20, 2024. She was born in May 1937, in Providence, Rhode Island to John A. and Edith Sworbell and relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida where she lived until she married.
JoAn was known as a compassionate and loving friend to all who knew her. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Atlanta and enjoyed being involved in church based activities until her decline in health. She was unable to attend church service in-person but continued to be involved through the phone ministry, encouraging, assisting, and praying for other homebound seniors.
She was a member of Gwinnett County Senior Games participating in Senior Olympics over several years, winning many awards. JoAn was employed as a commercial driver, retiring from Hi Hope Service Center in Lawrenceville, Georgia, a facility that provides service to children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Hi Hope staff and clients alike stated that "It was evident that her passion was helping others." She was well known for her generosity in her local community, lending a helping hand, sharing food and water to all those in need.
JoAn was preceded in death by her husband, Haskel B. Hardin and her son, Logan R. Peacock. She is survived by her four children, eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and two great-great-great grandchildren.
A visitation for JoAn will be held on Tuesday, February 27th, 2024 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Eternal Hills Funeral Home located at 3594 Stone Mountain Hwy, Snellville, GA 30039. The committal will take place on Tuesday, February 27th, 2024 from 2:00pm to 3:30pm at Eternal Hills Funeral Home.
