John Philip Fleming, age 83 of Dacula, Georgia, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, after an extended illness.
He was born February 5, 1942, in Commerce, Georgia, a son of the late Marvin and Jeannette Fleming.
John was a man of strong faith and commitment to his family and friends. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the time he and his wife, Joy, spent with them. He took great comfort in teaching bible studies, attending church and spending time with his small group. When dementia struck Joy several years ago, John was singularly focused on making sure she received the best care and support and was grateful for the help caregivers and his small group provided the family. John found strength and guidance in his faith and continued to live a joyful, purposeful life in spite of his own serious illnesses in his final years. He never wavered in his passion for encouraging others and the sharing of his faith.
John took great pride in his garden, raising his prized chickens, cheering on the Braves and Dawgs and enjoying his lifelong love of Elvis’ music.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Steve Joyner, and sisters-in-law, Jackie Joyner and Jennie Fleming.
John is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Joy Fleming, and daughters and sons-in-law Carrie and Tim Martin, and Cathie and Doug Crozier. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Austin Martin (Leah), Emily Farrell (Jeff), Taylor Martin (Karley), Curtis Crozier (Brook) and four great-granddaughters.
