Jose M. Garcia

Jose Manuel Garcia, 88, passed away suddenly from a terminal illness and entered into Heaven on July 19, 2019. Jose was the beloved eldest son of 6 children born to Jose Manuel Garcia and Erlinda Colindres de Garcia of Cojutepeque in El Salvador. He attended military school until 1952. The following year he immigrated from El Salvador to Michigan and began the American Dream. In Detroit he joined the automotive industry and worked his way up the ranks at General Motors where he retired after 36 years.

In 1964 he met Luzmilda Maria Herrera of Costa Rica while she was visiting the US. It was love at first sight, and they married March 23rd of that year. Soon after they settled in Saginaw, Michigan to begin their family. There they raised their three children and attended First Baptist Church of Bridgeport. Jose retired in 1989 and moved to Cape Coral, FL where he resided for 16 years. His next and final relocation was to Georgia to be near his three grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Luzmilda; his three children, Ivan, Ruth, and Sylvia(Craig); and three grandchildren: Sophia, Andrew and Cristian. He is also survived by 2 siblings: Gloria Garcia of El Salvador and Guadalupe Garcia of Brazil.

Visitaion will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm followed by a Funeral Service on Tuesday July 23rd at Eternal Hills Funeral Home, 3594 Stone Mountain Hwy, Snelville, GA 30039.
