Joseph "Joe" Anthony LaMay Sr., age 57, of Snellville, Georgia, was hospitalized January 21, 2022 for outpatient surgery, unrelated to the severe lung disease that he had suffered from for years, which unfortunately overwhelmed his lungs making his condition worse. He spent the following weeks in the hospital fighting to improve. After a valiant fight, Joe passed away the afternoon of Monday February 7th, 2022.
Joe had a long career as an Industrial Electrician and was a member of the IBEW local 613 for 33 years. For majority of his career, he worked for Action Electric in Atlanta, Georgia. Joe loved what he did and even though he had been fighting the lung disease for several years, he continued to work until 2020 when he had to stop due to the disabling damage the disease had caused to his lungs.
Joe is survived by his children Joseph LaMay, Jr., Jessica LaMay, and Alexandra LaMay, mother, Mary Ann LaMay, brother John W. LaMay, Jr. and wife Alison, nephew John W. LaMay III (Raven), niece Jane Arona (Ryan) and many of his close friends.
A visitation for Joe will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Eternal Hills Funeral Home, 3594 Stone Mountain Highway, Snellville, GA 30039, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM in the Eternal Hills Funeral Home Chapel.
The family has requested that in order to honor Joe and his "laid back" demeanor, please come as you are and do not feel the need to "dress up", Joe wouldn't have. Dress is casual for the service.
Following the services everyone is invited to join us as we gather and celebrate Joe’s life at one of his favorite places, Will Henry’s, 1228 Rockbridge Road SW, Stone Mountain, GA 30087.
