

KJ Mitchell, age 83, of Lilburn, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on January 8, 2026. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rebecca Mitchell, and brothers Tony Mitchell and Kenneth Mitchell (Dorothy).
KJ is survived by his children, Wendy Stockburger and Michael Mitchell (Leslie); and three grandchildren: Chad Mitchell, Kyle Stockburger, and Malorie Mitchell. Sisters Lillian Cox (William), Velma Hinton, Selma Jones and brother David Mitchell (Linda), Sister in law Laura Mitchell as well as several nieces and nephews.
KJ honorably served in the United States Army’s First Cavalry Division during the Vietnam War. He was wounded in combat and received the Purple Heart, a testament to his bravery and sacrifice for his country.
KJ was known as a quiet, private, and hardworking man who valued integrity, loyalty, and perseverance. He spent many years working at General Motors, where his strong work ethic earned the respect of those around him. In his free time, he found peace and fulfillment in woodworking and tending to his vegetable garden—simple pleasures that reflected his humble spirit.
The family will receive visitors at Eternal Hills Funeral Home, 3594 Stone Mountain Hwy, Snellville, GA 30039, on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will be follow on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the Eternal Hills Funeral Home Chapel , with a graveside service immediately following.
