

Marianne Merritt “Schrimsher” went to be with the Lord on June 15, 2013 at home surrounded by family. She was born on Oct. 21, 1941 at Crawford Long and called the Silver Dollar Baby in the paper as her parents paid for her birth with silver dollars. She is predeceased by her parents, W.S. (Bill) and Geneva Merritt and one son Ricky Merritt Schrimsher.
She is survived by one daughter, Tammy Schrimsher Thrift Siler of Flowery Branch and two grandchildren, Sierra Siler and Danny Thrift; her two sisters, Betty Jane Schreck and Barbara Jean Anglin of Tucker, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marianne attended Tucker Christian church, Decatur High, LaGrange College, and UT. She enjoyed her 36 yr. career as a realtor/assoc. broker and earned many awards including being in the Lifetime Million Dollar Club and the Dekalb Board of Realtors #2 sales agent of the year. Prior, she & her sisters managed some of parent’s businesses such as the Breaker’s Hotel in Daytona, the Decatur Sundries and Odd’s & In’s on the Square. She loved to entertain and her door was always open at her home in Smoke Rise, St. Mtn. Marianne wanted to express her appreciation to Gentiva Hospice and special friend, Virginia Benson, and many other angels who cared for her in such a loving and tireless way.
