Martha Louise Shaffer passed away peacefully on May 11, 2019 in Snellville, GA at the age of 86. Martha was born July 3, 1932 in Booneville, MS and lived most of her life in the Atlanta area. She spent almost 25 years working in sales at Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue as a Parfum Enthusiast. She was definitely always the life of the party. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elijah Daniel Smith and Taffa Leigh Smith; her husband of 28 years, William A. Shaffer and her stepson, William “Billy” Carlton Shaffer. She is also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters, Wendell “Pete” Smith, Lima Eveline Smith, Daniel Elijah Smith, Rachel Estelle Williams and Ralph Arthur Smith; her companion of 12 years, Jack Sharp and her life-long best friend Patsy Smith. Martha is survived by her sister, Nellie “NaNa” Crosby (Gulfport, MS); her stepdaughter, Joy Lynn Shaffer Shelnutt and husband Marty; her grandsons, William “Billy” Carlton Shaffer II, Cole William Taylor and Dustin Carlton Taylor; and her great grandchildren, Madalynn Taylor, Jackson Taylor, Reagan Taylor, Carmen Taylor and Jameson Taylor; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on May 18, 2019 at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens, Snellville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to The Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
