Mary Ann T. Morris, age 66, passed away at her home in Lilburn, Georgia on December 26, 2013. Mary Ann was found to have an enlarged heart. While the term in a medical sense is negative, having a big heart is exactly how one would describe Mary Ann; she loved her husband, her children and all of her family and friends immensely. Her love was visible, extravagant, and ever present. Above all, Mary Ann loved God, and committed each day to serving Him. Mary Ann was a member of St. Stephens Catholic Church and took time each day to attend daily mass and serve as a volunteer.
Mary Ann was born in Detroit Michigan on July 8, 1947 to Tony and Evelyn Friedrich. The Friedrich family moved to Georgia in 1958; Mary Ann graduated from St. Pius High School in 1965. Mary Ann has one brother, Dave Friedrich, who lives with his wife Maria in Gainesville, Georgia.
Mary Ann married Jerry Grayson Morris in Decatur, Georgia on June 7, 1969. They were happily married and very much in love for 44 years. Mary Ann and Jerry have five children; Annette, Andy, Tony, Alan and Adam, and she devoted herself to raising them in a safe, loving and Christ centered home. Mary Ann loved being a mother and in addition to raising her own five, helped to care for many other children whose parents worked outside the home.
Mary Ann loved to have her family around her; during the summer months, the Morris home was the gathering place for pool parties and cook outs. The rest of the year, Mary Ann made sure that there were always toys, games and books available to entertain every member of the family. However, it wasn’t the pool or the toys that drew family and friends over, but the ever present love and laughter that existed in the home.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Jerry Morris, daughter and son-in-law, Annette & Brent Snipes, Buford; sons and daughters-in-law, Andrew & Margaret Morris, Decatur, Anthony & Amy Morris, College Park, Alan Morris, Lilburn and Adam & Ann-Marie Morris, Dacula; brother and sister-in-law, David & Maria Friedrich, Gainesville; mother-in-law Geneva Morris, Lawrenceville, and grandchildren, David, Meg, Kendall, Kaci, Anna, and Elena. She will be greatly missed and remembered always by each of them.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Stephen Catholic Church located at 5373 Wydella Rd., Lilburn, GA on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. with a reception to follow. An inurnment service will be held at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens in Snellville at 1:30 following the reception.
