Mary Moran was born in Alexandria, Louisiana on the last day of November 1921, to Eugene Aguillard and Louise Esnault Aguillard. She was the 4th of 9 children, 7 sisters and 1 brother. She lived in Alexandria (Samtown) during her childhood and young adult life. Their parents sharecropped a farm, and all the kids had duties that included milking the cows, picking the eggs, and plowing the fields. Mary could drive a tractor but never got a drivers license.
Mary married George Moran on April 14, 1949 in Alexandria. They had one son Vinson, whom they provided for and raised with their whole hearts. The family moved to San Francisco in 1953, where they joined two of her sisters Pearl and Barbara, and two of George's brothers Albert and Lamy. These were the three sisters that married the three brothers.
Mary continued her career in photography, as a dark room technician. She worked for over 25 years with Applegate Studios in San Francisco. Bruce, as he was sometimes called, worked at the Naval Shipyard as a metal former. Vinson was enrolled at first in a Catholic school, then completed the rest in Public institutions. Being catholic the family would attend St. Agnes Church on a regular basis.
Mary was one not to sit still, after the studio closed she became an aide and housekeeper to the Elderly. Her cooking was well known, especially the Gumbo, Fried Chicken and dirty rice. So much so that George sold the food at the corner store. Mary enjoyed fishing, sewing and of course cooking. George passed away in August of 1998 and was laid to rest in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Daly city California. In 1999 Mary moved from San Francisco to Redwood City, not far from her sister Pearl.
Mary lived in Redwood City for 17 years in a small house with the most wondrous lemon tree that would bear fruit all year long. She had her garden of fruit trees, vegetables, and orchid flowers that all did so well due to her excellent care. In 2019 she was encouraged by her grandson Cameron and son Vinson to move to Georgia to be closer to the family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Mary succumbed to her years and the detriments of Covid. Her illness was short lived and not painful. She fell asleep forever on January 29, 2023 at her home in Snellville. She proceeds to join her parents, siblings, and all those who have gone before. She was the last of her generation surviving to 101 years old.
Mary is survived by her immediate family, Son Vinson daughter in law Vicki, Grand children Cameron & Nissa, Patrick, Maia, Bernard, Kenneth, Maxwell, Great Grand Children Jordyn, Naiya, Cameron Jr. Caden.
