Maxine will forever be remembered for her kind, fun loving spirit as a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Family and friends were blessed by her cooking and joy for entertaining over the years. When she wasn’t hosting or caring for others she always lived life to the fullest.
Maxine cherished friendships and loved people well. She was a faithful steward of her gifts from the Lord and brought joy to those around her with laughter. She went out of her way to make others feel valued and loved. Fittingly nicknamed as the Newcomer Ambassador, as she was known for thoughtfully reaching out to new residents in her communities. She welcomed and graciously spent time making sure others felt included and cared for.
Born in Bakersville, NC to George and Grace Ellis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thedus (Corky) of 56 years, whom she dearly missed. She is survived by her three children, Deborah Summer, and husband Robin Summer, Mark Cordell and wife Judy Cordell and Jody Cordell; sister Linda Covington; 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, a niece, nephew and their families.
The family will have a private graveside service at Eternal Hills on April 21, 2023. A Celebration of Life welcoming all will follow from 1-4PM at the home of her granddaughter. 3212 Greyfield Way, Between, GA 30656.
