Nancy Ann Wasserman Cramer, age 82, most adored wife, mother, grandmother (aka Gramie), sister, aunt and friend went to be with the Lord on Sunday October 31, 2021 while at home with her family in Snellville, GA. Nancy was born in Huntington, West Virginia on December 16, 1938 and was the youngest daughter of the late Silas Wasserman and Anna Belle Stewart Wasserman.
Nancy is reunited in heaven with her precious, beloved husband of 54 years, Bill, and also joins her parents as well as her cherished oldest sister, Jean Denker and Brother-in-Law, Russell.
Nancy is survived by her loving children Kelly Skinner (Owen) and Scott H. Cramer (Kim Mitchell); her adoring and lively grandchildren Benjamin, Timothy and Annabelle; her sister Janet Daub (Victor) of Tucson, AZ; and many, many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
All her life Nancy brought joy to everyone she knew! Although her childhood was sadly traumatized by the devastating passing of her mother from ovarian cancer when Nancy was just seven, she was forever known as a kind, loving, generous, and faith-filled woman. She remembers being guided by her loving father to select one of a few professions, in his estimation, available for women. She chose educator, proceeded to earn her batchlor’s degree from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas and then her master’s degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson.
Nancy moved to Tucson, Arizona to join her sisters, Jean and Janet, who had already settled in the beautiful desert. Nancy first spotted Bill, the “cute bank teller”, as he became known, then serendipitously encountered him again at the Sunday Evening Club of single adults at Trinity Presbyterian Church where God brought them together and where they were married in April 1964. Nancy was wholly devoted to her two children who completed the family.
Nancy loved her family well! As a mother, Nancy was not only a purveyor of Christian principles and values for her children (and grandchildren) taking them to Sunday School and church each week, but also a purveyor of fun memories - from raucous games of “Got You Last” and “Go Fish”, making loads of costumes for Halloween and plays to the now infamous offer of “three scoops of Baskin Robbins for lunch” that day, fearlessly playing in the ocean waves with her kids, and hosting frequent spend the night parties for her long awaited precious grandchildren! She unofficially held the title of “best audience ever” as her glorious laughter was always in plentiful supply. She was the happiest, best Gramie there ever was and lavished her three grandchildren with endless affection.
Nancy passed on her love of animals, but especially cats, to her entire family! Cats were an integral part of the family - from before her children were born to Sylvester, Nancy’s adored rescue kitty who brought a long forgotten smile to Bill’s face when he was suffering from dementia. While residing at Laurel Grove, an independent senior living community, Nancy thoroughly enjoyed engaging in the many activities and games while making beautiful friendships along the way.
After retiring from teaching, Nancy and Bill thoroughly enjoyed being part-time RV’ers traveling all over the country during their twilight years having many wonderful adventures with Bill’s extended family! Nancy loved and served the Lord all her life, quietly going about life changing tasks like tutoring neighbor kids, serving hot meals at a soup kitchen, delivering meals with Meals on Wheels, volunteering with the Presbyterian Church Disaster response unit and most recently helping to make care bags at Laurel Grove.
