On Saturday, November 14th, 2020 Rhonda Colleen Murphy Poje, loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and aunt went to be with the Lord at the age of 69.

Our loving mother was born on December 28, 1950 in Freeport, TX to Francis Melvin "FM" "Papa" Murphy and Dorothy "Mimi" Murphy. She attended the University of Texas until leaving for her forever dream job as a flight attendant with Delta where she worked until retiring after almost 48 years in August 2020. She and her ex-husband, William Poje, raised two children, Natalie and Eric - the greatest loves of her life.

Rhonda loved life beyond measure - flying all around the world, meeting new friends and experiencing a life most only dream of. She loved her family and friends all of whom would describe her as the life of the party. She loved celebrating holidays and big life events going out to dinner and live shows. Her favorite thing was going to the orchestra as she grew up playing the French horn and performing as a majorette in the marching band.

Rhonda was preceded in death by her father, Francis Murphy. She is survived by her mother - Dorothy Murphy - the love of her life - William Poje - her two children and their spouses - Natalie & Tim Fletcher and Eric & Katherine Poje - her stepsons - Christopher Poje (Stephanie) and Matthew Poje (Dedee) - her sisters - Karen Murphy, Darla Phillips (Jackie), Dawn Yntema, and Scarlet Hoogakker (Doug) - her 3 grandchildren - Dylan, Devon & Derek Fletcher - 6 step-grandchildren, 2 step-greatgrandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, November 21st, 2020 at Eternal Hills Funeral Home on Stone Mountain Highway from 11am-3pm followed by a memorial service for family and close friends at 3pm. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations to charity for children and those less fortunate be made in Rhonda's honor.

Rhonda and I were in the same Delta training class...We both ended up in Miami and flew together often...and went to parties...She moved to Atlanta and I followed shortly after...We flew a lot together and had great layovers..I saw her on several occasions other than flying and we always had a lot of fun...I had her on a flight with Natalie when she was about two...My heart aches along with her family..I will never forget her...Penny Williams Jordan..

The pictures you have chosen and the beautiful tributes written perfectly describe the Rhonda Poje I met as a patient and came to love as a friend. We shared stories of our children and grands ! Her passion for her family was obvious. I Will remember with fondness her wit, beauty, smile and warm amazing hugs ! Natalie and Eric she wore her pride for you like a badge - if you knew her you knew about her children/family! A beautiful soul free to soar and fly forever- we will be comforted by her unforgettable heart . !I will treasure her last voice message ending —— love ya girl !! Rhonda had a passion for life, especially for her beloved family. She was a wonderful mother, daughter, sister and aunt, and a dear friend to me and to many others. I remember all the laughs, tears and everything in-between as we raised our kids across the street from each other. I will never forget you Rhonda.
My heart goes out to the Murphy/Poje family and I am so sorry for your loss. You were very fortunate to have such a bright loving star in your midst such as Rhonda. She will be missed by so many.

There are so many favorite memories of Rhonda and the entire Murphy clan. The Farmer and Murphy families share so many lifetime adventures together. Although many years would go by before I had the opportunity to see Rhonda, she would always greet me with a smile, hug while calling me Lulu. She will be missed by so many who knew her and of course loved her. Please hug my sweet Mary Lou and Carolyn for me!
