Roy Edward "Eddie" Tallant Jr.

Roy Edward (Eddie) Tallant Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend gained his wings on Wednesday, July 15th, 2026, at 8:30 am. He was 82 years old. He battled a serious heart condition for 22 years and was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in January 2025. When he was diagnosed with cancer, he said he could not believe his heart wouldn’t be what ended his life, he’d certainly not expected cancer. As it turned out, neither his heart nor the cancer that he fought for two years killed him. He fell in his backyard trying to fix the air conditioner that had quit working during the night. He was carrying his tool box and broke his left shoulder and knee. Later, in the hospital, Eddie choked on a sip of water that his wife gave him after feeding him breakfast. He died with her holding his face and looking directly into his eyes. He was born June 1, 1944, to Roy Edward Tallant and Marjorie Lewis Tallant, of Decatur, Georgia. He attended Decatur High School in Decatur, Georgia and the former Dekalb Technical College, now Georgia Piedmont Technical College, in Clarkston, Georgia. He worked for 22 years for Sears Service Center. After leaving Sears, he was self- employed in Snellville, Georgia, with his wife, Lynn Tanner Tallant, operating as Tallant Service Company for 30+ years as an HVAC contractor.

Eddie is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lynn Tanner Tallant, originally of Atlanta, Georgia and a graduate of Gordon High School in Atlanta, Georgia, by his daughter Ginger and son-in-law Grant Eager of St. Paul, Minnesota, and by his son Travis and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Tallant of Jefferson, Georgia. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Callum Eager of Boulder, Colorado, and Autumn Tallant of Jefferson, Georgia, by his sister Susan and brother-in-law James Reynolds of Baxley, Georgia, by his sister-in-law Vickie and brother-in-law Milton Dowdy of Monroe, Georgia, and by his sister-in-law Jennifer and brother-in-law Chuck Tanner of Ooltewah, Tennessee, as well as by many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Eddie was “the best dog daddy” to Holly, his little chi-poo who is certainly going to miss his loving and scratching. He enjoyed his vacations with his family and loved being at his place on Lake Oconee, especially when his grandchildren were growing up.

A good time was to be had when Eddie was around. His sense of humor never left him. Even during his final moments in the hospital he was making jokes. If Eddie was talking you could almost count on what was coming out of his mouth to be a joke. He enjoyed life!

A Celebration of Life will be held at Eternal Hills Funeral Home at 3594 Stone Mountain Highway, in Snellville, Georgia on Sunday, August 2,, 2026. Visitation will be from 1-3 pm and the service will be from 3-4 pm.
