Ruby Long Hampton

Ruby Long Hampton was born September 30, 1926. Ruby was one of five children. The family moved to North Miami, FL when Ruby was five years old. Growing up during the depression was a challenging childhood, but Ruby and her siblings did the best with what they had. She learned to play the piano only using a piece of decorated cardboard. She passed that love of music down to her granddaughter Sarah and gifted Sarah a piano when she moved onto officially studying music in college.

She met her loving husband Arnold Hampton after spontaneously cancelling a previously set date with another young man! Arnold and Ruby were married for 63 years. Together they were blessed with two children, Barbara and Daniel. Barbara was a right-hand help with their air conditioning business and learned at a young age to help in the office. It was Arnold’s dream for Daniel to become an engineer with his bright mind and love of mechanics. They were proud when grandson Joshua graduated with his degree in Engineering.

Arnold passed on December 11, 2010, and not a day went by where Ruby did not mention missing him greatly. Together they left a long legacy and testament to true love and devotion. They were welcoming to everyone and spent most summers surrounded by all of the grandchildren at their home. Many memories were made at their Loganville, GA home.

Ruby went home to be with the Lord on July 21, 2026. It is a comfort to family to know she is reunited with her soul mate Arnold as well as her many other family members.

All of her siblings preceded her in death. They were Fred, Cecil, Evelyn, and Earnest.

Ruby is survived by daughter Barbara and son-in-law Gary of Fort Pierce, FL. Son Danny and daughter-in-law Kathy Hampton of Athens, GA. Grandchildren Chad Carruth of St. Lucie, FL, Kyle Carruth of Australia, Elizabeth Pate and her husband Chase of Gulf Shores, AL. Sarah Plyler of Greenville, SC, and Joshua Hampton and his wife Rachel of Asheville, NC. Great-grandchildren, David and Grace Pate. She will be laid to rest on Thursday, July 30, 2026.
