Ruth Marie (Laurich) Dewick passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, September 3rd, 2021. She was 96 years young. She was born August 8, 1925 in Moline, IL to Harold and Irene Laurich. She had suffered for many years with Dimentta and Atrial Fibulation. She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Arthur Jay Dewick. She will be greatly missed.
Ruthand and her husband spent 21 years of their married life in the United States Navy and had many travels back and forth to Hawaii. She was a loving and involved wife and mother and loved her role as such. She had a vibrant personality and was always very friendly to everyone, even those she didn't know.
After retirement. she and her family moved to Fountain Valley, California and purchased a home. She and her husband were very active in their church, the First Christi.an Church of Huntington Beach, California. She had a beautiful soprano voice and was very active in the choir. She roved to sing. She and our dad also loved to dance. When they were stationed in Des Moines, Iowa, my mother signed them up for Ballroom Dancing lessons. I think it was a great step. They danced at least 3 times a week, sometimes more, which kept them very active.
They lived in their home in Fountain Valley, California from 1965 until January 2017, at which time, they moved to Georgia, to be closer to their oldest daughter. so they could take care of them. They really didn't want to come but they had no choice. My dad was my mom's caretaker and because of the stroke, he could no longer perform that role. They adjusted well but in August of 2017, my dad was diagnosed with leukemia. He passed away on September 13, 2017.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Ann Loomis and her husband Rick and her twin daughters, Pamela Irene Martin and her husband Tom and Peggy Marguerite Menikheim and her husband Greg. There are 9 grandchildren, Stephanie, Kimberlee, Carrie, Jamie, Crissy, Jason, Allen, Michael and Jerry. All together, she has 27 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
