Sam was born in the Promise Land community near Hamburg, Arkansas, in the home of his parents, Samuel Leroy Brady and Audrey Irene Dingler Brady. He lived all of his growing up years in rural Arkansas.
Sam was a natural athlete. Until he was a rising senior, the only sport available to him in the smaller schools was basketball, a sport in which he excelled. Going into his senior year at Hamburg High School, he had the opportunity to be a part of the football team in the role of a starting player. A new and permanent love was born for him.
After high school and a term in the U.S. Army, he enrolled in Arkansas A&M College, now University of Arkansas at Monticello. There he met and married Mary Elizabeth Carr, deceased in 2015. Working at night and school by day, he earned his degree and began a long career of coaching football and teaching. He then moved to Colorado and earned his Masters Degree while being a part of the football coaching staff at Western State College of Colorado, now called Western Colorado University in Gunnison, Colorado.
After receiving his Masters, he moved into Administration for several years. He then began a new career which he enjoyed with the Gregg textbook division of McGraw Hill Publishing. He worked with colleges and their needs.
With football and basketball in the past, golf and tennis became his sports as long as he was able. In 2020, Sam met a beautiful, gracious and kind lady, Betty Tanner. They both had suffered loss of their spouses. It didn't take long until they knew they belonged together as part of God's plan. On August 8, 2020, they became Mr. and Mrs. Brady.
Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud, it is not rude and is slow to anger. This is how they lived their life together.
Sam began his earthly life in Promise Land and began his forever life in The Promised Land.
He was predeceased by his parents, first wife, two brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his spouse, Betty Tanner Brady of Snellville, Georgia; children Samuel Leroy Brady III (Darlene) of Waynesville, NC, William Patrick Brady (Liz), Tucker, Georgia and Suzie McLamb (Ron), Atlanta, Georgia.
