Age 59 of Jefferson, GA formerly Decatur, GA passed away on July 7, 2016 after a courageous fight with ALS. Mike was the guy that everybody liked and remembered because of his contagious positive personality. Everybody that met Mike became an instant friend. Mike was born on December 9, 1956 with cerebral palsy. Mike was dealt with physical and mental disabilities before he had a chance to live a normal childhood or adult life.
Mike prevailed in a big way; he went on to be the big brother to three brothers and one sister. And what a big brother he was, he never let us down. Most normal children would struggle in this situation, but Mike led us through the good times and the bad times and always had a smile on his face, because he is ….. Mike! The fact that he is a big Atlanta Falcons fan was a bonus. In addition he loved fast cars and Classic Rock N Roll music.
Mike went on to go to school and then workshops in Scottsdale, GA and then until recent years also in Jefferson, GA. He loved all of his friends and girlfriends at the workshops. When Mike was younger, he represented Atlanta in the Special Olympics while continuing to inspire his friends and family.
Our favorite brother and friend is survived by his mother Gail Maddux, Jefferson, his sister Julie Maddux, Jefferson, brothers and sisters-in- laws, Richard and Cathy Maddux, Conyers, Bill and Karen Maddux, Dacula, Tracy and Mandy Maddux, Conyers. Mike also inspired six nephews and one niece.
