Willa Mae Johnson, age 90, of Loganville, Georgia passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021. She was born January 19, 1931 in Murphy, NC to Bill and Artie Dockery. Willa worked most of her life, starting at a young age working in a stocking factory and eventually retiring from Dekalb County School after over 30 years as a cook and was a very active lady who loved to work in her yard and garden, even continuing to use her riding lawn mower weekly until just last year. Her passion was baking and was known for her wonderful carrot cake. Willa always looked forward to watching her Sunday afternoon church program every week. In her later years, after swearing most of her life that she hated Salmon, grew to love sharing grilled salmon with her family.
Willa is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Farris H. Johnson and her son Oral Johnson. Survivors include her daughter Rowena Hensley of Monroe, grandchildren Shoshana Ivey and husband Chris of Monroe, Eric Hensley and wife Bethany of Dacula and Thomas Johnson and wife Haley of Conyers, sister Pauline Self of Thomasville, NC, brother David Dockery of Thomasville and grandchildren Blake, Christian, Hanna, Rowen, Raley, Stacey and Letty.
A visitation for Willa will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Eternal Hills Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM in the Eternal Hills Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens.
